Treatments
At West Croydon Dental Practice, we carry out a full range of general dentistry. In addition we also provide the following:
Tooth whitening
Teeth whitening is a simple bleaching process that removes stains caused by food, drink, ageing and smoking. It lightens the colour of your teeth. The degree of whiteness depends on the process chosen and varies from individual to individual.
Tooth coloured restorations
Unsightly black and silver fillings can be replaced with tooth coloured restorations.
Advanced periodontal (Gum) treatment
Advanced gum disease is a major cause of tooth loss affecting eating, speech and appearance and is a cause of bad breath, so it can be a life changing disease. It has also been linked to the development of serious diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and renal disease amongst others.
It affects 4 out of 5 people to varying degrees during thier lifetime. If Periodontal Disease is left untreated the outcome is inevitably loss of teeth. Once bone is lost it never grows back on its own. When too much bone is lost, there is little support for the teeth, they get loose and have to be removed. Prevention is always best.
Dental implants
Dental implants are the most advanced way to replace a missing tooth or teeth. It is a replacement root made most commonly of Titanium, which is implanted into the jaws in areas where a tooth or teeth have been lost. This then acts as a root and the replacement tooth can be fixed to it in a similar way as a crown. They are currently the closest you can get to natural teeth and although it is impossible to replace a healthy natural tooth, it is often reported by patients that implants look, feel and function like a natural tooth.
